Recently, Trussville Gas and Water mailed gas line safety information to customers. One of the recommendations is that homeowners should periodically have the gas lines coming to their house inspected to identify leak threats, such as corrosion. We are licensed to inspect and do repairs to gas lines.

Signs of a leak:

• Hissing noise

• Rotten egg odor

What to do:

• Leave the area immediately

• Don't look for the leak

• Don't use a phone

• Don't smoke

• don't use a battery-operated device (such as a flashlight)

• Don't use anything that could cause a spark
